Attendance Newsletter 1 – 21

Hello and welcome to our Attendance Newsletter No. 1.

Well done and thank you to 83 children who had 100% attendance between 6th
September 2021 and 30th September 2021. The Department for Education tracks
attendance carefully and we aim to have an attendance figure in excess of the
national average of 97%.

YOU CAN HELP BY ENSURING YOUR CHILDREN ATTEND EVERY DAY, ON TIME!

Lateness

We are very proud of the way that our pupils come into school in the morning.

Almost all our pupils arrive on time. This is extremely important and encourages
habits of good timekeeping and stops classroom disruptions.

• Pupils are expected to arrive at school NO LATER than 8:35 am.

SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:40 AM. THIS IS WHEN CHILDREN MUST BE IN THEIR CLASSROOM.

• A pupil who arrives late after the register has closed will be marked as late
(U) – which counts as an unauthorised absence.

10 minutes late every day = 33 missed hours of learning!

Important reminder about booking holidays/other events

After so much disruption to your child’s education over recent months, the most important thing is that staff and parents/carers work together to get children back into the routine of education and attending regularly.

Attending school every day throughout a term helps children increase their learning in the classroom and enjoy the benefits of their educational experience.  It really does make a difference.  Therefore, other than in exceptional circumstances, no leave will  be authorised after so much absence from school during the lock down periods.

Please do not make plans without making a request to the school first.  Any request for leave of absence should be put in writing and at least four weeks’ notice should be provided.  Term leave request forms are available from the school office.

Family emergencies need careful consider.  It may always be appropriate, or in the best interest of your child, to miss school for emergencies which are being dealt with by adult family members.

Parents/carers are reminded any unauthorised term time leave may result in a Penalty Notice or prosecution.

To assist parents/carers in booking holidays and arranging other events, please find detailed below the term days for the forthcoming academic year.
