Heatweave – Amber warning

Dear families,

We are currently in a Level 3: Amber warning for high temperatures in the coming days, likely to last until Wednesday July 20.

Drinking water

Please ensure your child comes to school with a bottle of water which can be refilled in academy during the day.  Pupils will be encouraged to drink fluids regularly throughout the day and after break and lunch.  Children will be able to take their water bottles out to PE lessons if required.

Opportunities to drink regularly will be provided to children without a water bottle.

Other safety measures

We will ensure temperatures in school are kept as low as possible by keeping blinds closed and opening windows and doors.   Children are encouraged to wear hats outside and should be encouraged to apply sun cream at home before school, especially if PE is planned.

Health issues

If you are concerned about any potential health risks relevant to your child’s health conditions, please contact us as soon as possible and we will support you to make appropriate arrangements.

All of the above measures will assist in keeping a reasonable temperature inside, and of course as always we will continue to assess throughout the day.

V. Counsell
