Academy Ethos & Vision
At Evergreen Primary Academy we aim to create a welcoming, respectful and compassionate learning community where all citizens are empowered to realise their potential in a challenging, aspirational and supportive environment, to develop into responsible global citizens with self-agency.
Evergreen Primary Academy believes that meeting the needs of all pupils is crucial to ensuring that we are a school filled with engaged and enthusiastic learners. Learners who will be the future leaders of local, national and global communities. We are a school that thrives on diversity and welcome children and families from all over the world to join our happy community where we celebrate each other’s strengths and uniqueness.
Our community of children, parents, relatives, staff and other local community groups work closely together to ensure that our children learn in an environment where they are filled with joy, confidence, self-belief and feel safe to try new experiences and explore concepts of learning in a deeper way.
Through developing a challenging and engaging curriculum, we ensure that our children understand the value of learning so that they feel well prepared to take the next steps in their learning journeys at every transition point in their school life.
It is important that the academy staff and parents/carers work closely together to support the development of all children. To secure the best outcomes for our pupils, we believe that the partnership of school and parents/carers needs to be strong and effective. We work closely with our parents to support them to be active in their children’s education so that they can support learning at home as well as in the academy.
We believe that children should develop the key skills of independence and resilience at an early stage in their learning and encourage all children to take responsibility for maintaining the high standards of our academy community. We ensure that all children have the opportunity to be part of the academy community through a range of activities such as School Council, Eco-Committee and Playground Leader groups. All Evergreen children know that we are a community and we have a responsibility to Evergreen Citizens.
School Of Sanctuary
At Evergreen Primary Academy, we are working towards School of Sanctuary Status. This involves training and professional development for all staff; promoting and valuing home language use in school; ensuring our newly arrived pupils can access the learning and provision that they need to be successful; developing our New Arrivals policy and embedding our EAL policy across the school; ensuring parents are able to access information and know where to ask for help; consulting with parents to find out what we could do better.
