A day on the Farm
Evergreen Primary Academy’s Reception Year pupils recently embarked on an exciting outdoor learning adventure at Windmill Hill City Farm.
Pupils transformed their usual forest school experience into a memorable day at the lush 4.5-acre farm space in South Bristol. On site, there are delightful community gardens to explore, a diverse array of farm animals, a play area, picnic areas, a café and farm shop.
Pupils enjoyed close encounters with lots of different farm animals. First, they watched a farmer delicately milking a goat, and had to be really quiet so that they wouldn’t alarm the goat while it was being milked.
Divided into two groups, pupils then embarked on different adventures. One group went off to explore the farm grounds and meet the animals enjoying life on the farm. Meanwhile, the other group indulged in creative activities, making craft hens and decorating some real eggs. Their designs were amazing!
A school spokesperson said: “It is really valuable to get pupils out of the classroom and experience real life activities, and it was great experience for all involved.”
