Evergreen pupils enjoy experimenting at the science creates lab

What an amazing morning it was for the budding scientists in Year 5 at Evergreen Primary Academy!

As part of their hands-on learning experience, staff and pupils walked to the Science Creates lab, where they conducted exciting experiments to explore the science behind dissolving substances.

The day began with pupils making predictions about whether various materials – including salt, sugar, packing peanuts, sand, and hot chocolate powder – would dissolve in water.

Pupils then put their theories to the test through practical experiments, with many of their predictions proving to be correct.

Following this, the young scientists took on the challenge of separating mixed materials such as buttons, beads, salt, sand, and paper clips from water using filter paper, magnets, and tweezers.

The activity encouraged problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in a fun and engaging way.

A spokesperson for Evergreen Primary Academy said: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ enthusiasm and teamwork during this exciting science trip.

“Hands-on experiences like these help bring learning to life and inspire curiosity about the world around us.”
