Year 5 pupils at Evergreen Primary Academy have been getting active in their maths learning this week. They have been learning about area and perimeter.

What is the difference between area and perimeter? The area is the region covered by shape or figure where as perimeter is the distance covered by outer boundary of the shape. The unit of area is given by square unit or unit2 and unit of perimeter is same as the unit.

In this session, you can see them working together to find the different perimeters around the room.

Year 5 pupils at Evergreen Primary Academy have been scientists and learning all about forces. Pupils initially had lots of questions but have now started to answer them after testing and experiments.

One question was: how does the moon not crash into the earth? So pupils investigated the relationship between mass and gravity. To begin to understand this they used newton meters to measure the gravitational force happening on different classroom objects.

Pupils at Evergreen Primary Academy immersed themselves in the ancient Egyptians by mummifying oranges!

Pupils scooped out the insides of oranges, dried the insides out and filled them with salt and spices to help the drying process.

They then wrapped their oranges and placed them on radiators to help the mummification process! Pupils look forward to seeing how successful their mummifications were at the end of term!
