Pupils celebrate Guru Nanak’s birthday at Evergreen
Year 1 pupils at Evergreen Primary Academy marked the Sikh festival celebrating Guru Nanak’s birthday with an engaging and educational activity.
Guru Nanak, a revered spiritual teacher, emphasised the values of equality and inclusion, teaching that all individuals are equal regardless of their colour, age, or religion.
To honour his teachings and celebrate this special occasion, pupils created their own kalgi – a decorative brooch traditionally worn on the front of a turban during special events.
A school spokesperson said: “It was a wonderful way to learn and celebrate together.
“Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the activity, which not only promoted creativity but also encouraged an appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions.”
